Aptar Releases 2023 Corporate Sustainability / ESG Report

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AptarGroup, Inc. (NYSE: ATR), a global leader in drug and consumer product dosing, dispensing and protection technologies, today released its 2023 Corporate Sustainability / Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Report entitled Progress Takes Shape. Aptar’s report highlights key milestones of its global sustainability strategy across the company’s global operations focused on three key pillars:

  • Care – operating with care for employees, communities and the environment by continuously improving our impact and reducing our footprint;
  • Collaboration – innovating alongside customers, suppliers, industry coalitions and nonprofits to enable progress toward their goals – as well as for better outcomes for people and our planet; and
  • Circularity – helping the industry advance system-scale change that will benefit people today and for generations to come by addressing climate change and the waste crisis.

“Our keen focus on ESG, both in the way we run our business and in the solutions we provide, affords us a strong competitive advantage. Our solid ESG credentials and reputation serve as powerful assets. We are a company that stakeholders want to engage with, and our employees are proud to work for,” said Stephan B. Tanda, Aptar President and CEO. “We are proud to be an ESG leader within the industry, continuously raising the bar on sourcing renewable energy, certifying sites as Landfill Free and developing products that are more recyclable, reusable, refillable and incorporate more sustainable materials. I would like to thank our Aptar employees around the world who are propelling us forward towards a more sustainable future.”

Aptar has made considerable progress advancing key areas of its global sustainability strategy. Highlights from Aptar’s Sustainability Report include:

  • 97% of electricity is from renewable sources
  • 86% of operational waste avoided disposal to landfill through reuse, recycling and recovery
  • 63% of Aptar’s sites have earned a Landfill Free Certification through our internal program

Aptar is an active member of the CE100 Network and a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. In partnership with these organizations, and as part of our focus on circularity, we aim to include 10% recycled resin content and achieve 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable solutions in our personal care, beauty, home care and food and beverage solutions by the end of 2025.
  • Ensuring a robust safety, health and wellness program for our employees along with numerous learning and development opportunities
  • Creating a sense of belonging and celebrating our diverse workforce through an enhanced focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) driven by our employee resource groups, International Women’s Day summit and our annual DEI Week celebration. We are progressing toward a diversity goal where, by 2025, at least 30% of all Aptar leaders at the vice president level and above should be women. As of year-end 2023, 25.4% of our leadership team at the vice president level and above are women, up significantly from years past.
  • Supporting the communities where we live and work through donations and participation in local charitable events alongside supporting women’s economic empowerment and emergency campaigns for Aptar’s global signatory organization, CARE®
