New York Life Investments Launches One-talk, One-ton Challenge, Encouraging ESG Conversations
New York Life Investment Management has announced the launch of the “One-talk, One-ton Challenge,” aimed at encouraging advisors to have conversations with clients about ESG investing.
With this new initiative, the investment manager has pledged to offset one ton of carbon for every ESG conversation held by an advisor with a client. New York Life Investments is encouraging financial advisors to pledge to have one ESG conversation with a client each week beginning on Zero Emissions Day (September 21) through October 23. The company has set a goal through this program to offset 10,000 tons of carbon over the five-week period, equivalent to offsetting 24,813,896 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle. The company is also providing educational resources on sustainable investing and carbon offsetting on the One-talk, One-ton Challenge website.
In a message introducing the new program, Yie-Hsin Hung, Chief Executive Officer, New York Life Investment Management, said:
“Yes, ESG investing is good business. But I believe, as many of you do, that it’s not enough to be a leader in the financial world. It’s part of our duty to be leaders in caring for the natural world. One-Talk, One-ton Challenge is a way we are achieving this dual promise. We have one world, and we can change it one conversation at a time.”
