Jewelry manufacturer and retailer Pandora announced today the launch of launched today reduced-plastic packaging across its stores and online. The new packaging includes Pandora carrier bags that will no longer contain any plastic, and jewelry boxes with plastic reduced by more than 75%.

According to the company, the new packaging will result in GHG emissions savings of over 60% compared to its prior packaging, and is expected to reduce Pandora’s carbon footprint by 3,600 tones CO2 per year. In addition, the new packaging is made with fewer materials, increasing its recyclability.

The company stated that transitioning to low-carbon packaging and point of sales materials will be crucial in helping Pandora achieve its climate goals. The new initiatives follow the recent announcement by the company of commitments to cut GHG emissions in half by 2030 across its operations and value chain and to reach net-zero emissions by 2040.

The new bags and boxes are already available in the U.S, Europe, and Asia with new locations to follow through in 2021 and 2022.
