UBS Appoints Alexander Seidler as Head of Sustainability and Climate Risk
UBS has appointed as Alexander Seidler as Head Sustainability and Climate Risk, with responsibility for implementing the bank’s sustainability and climate risk (SCR) framework.
Seidler initially joined UBS in 2006, holding a variety of environmental and social risk-related positions in Zurich, London and Singapore, and departing in 2022 to join Credit Suisse as Head of Sustainability Risk. He rejoined UBS through the bank’s acquisition of Credit Suisse in 2023, and has most recently been serving as Head of Sustainability and Climate Risk Assessments.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the new position, Seidler said:
“The past few years have been quite a journey — returning from Singapore, taking on a new challenge at Credit Suisse, and ultimately finding myself back at UBS less than a year later. What followed was an intense and inspiring integration process, bringing together two exceptional teams and shaping a new chapter for the SCR program in UBS.”
Responsibilities of the new role according to his profile include maintaining UBS’s SCR risk appetite and standards, establishing internal reporting and disclosure, integrating SCR into traditional risk management frameworks, monitoring and implementation of supervisory requirements and acting as UBS SCR Underwriter by overseeing SCR assessments and escalations of products, transactions, clients and supplier onboarding.
