IKEA U.S. announced the launch of a home solar offering in California, in collaboration with residential solar technology and energy services provider SunPower.
The launch marks the latest market expansion for IKEA’s home solar services. IKEA Retail launched Home Solar in 2015, and has rolled out the service to 11 markets worldwide, including the UK and Germany.
The company has said that it aims to make home solar available across 30 markets by 2025. The SunPower collaboration, unveiled earlier this year, marks IKEA’s entry into the residential solar market in the U.S.

Under the new offering, members of the IKEA Family customer loyalty program are now able to purchase SunPower’s home solar solutions to generate and store renewable energy through IKEA California stores and online. SunPower is providing four packages, with a series of combinations of solar, energy storage and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
The collaboration follows the announcement by SunPower in February of the $250 million sale of its B2B distributed power-focused Commercial & Industrial Solutions business to TotalEnergies, to focus on the residential market.
