Capgemini, Schneider Electric Launch New Energy Optimization Platform
Global professional services firm Capgemini, and energy and automation digital solutions provider Schneider Electric, announced today a new collaboration, launching the Energy Command Center, a new energy management platform aimed at enabling organizations to monitor and manage the performance of energy assets across their operations, in order to lower energy consumption and support decarbonization goals.
According to the companies, the new platform was designed to help organizations accelerate their journey towards smarter and greener facility management and energy efficiency, providing digital solutions and technologies to simplify energy management and optimize energy consumption.
Peter Herweck, CEO at Schneider Electric, said:
“Tackling the energy and climate crises is paramount, and energy efficiency plays a key role in mitigating these challenges. Decarbonization through electrification and digitization is a necessity for a sustainable future.”
The new platform combines Schneider Electric’s connected products, edge control, and advisory applications for efficiently managing energy across multiple assets, such as factories, offices, or other infrastructure, with Capgemini’s expertise in data integration and processing, AI and machine learning, and the integration of products and software in a central decision-making platform.
According to the companies, the platform leverages AI, machine learning and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to measure and predict metrics including energy intensity, health of critical assets, critical operations, renewable energy generation, and overall performance across all energy assets, helping users to lower energy consumption and spend, based on real-time energy consumption and carbon emission data.
A prototype of the solution has been tested since 2022 across Capgemini’s operations in India. The company said that In 2023, the solution helped achieve a 29% reduction in energy consumption compared to a 2019 baseline.
Aiman Ezzat, CEO at Capgemini said:
“We are at a pivotal moment for the energy transition and are thrilled to join forces and combine our deep technology and data expertise with Schneider Electric’s reputed solutions, to empower organizations to manage and accelerate their energy decarbonization pathway.”
