CPP Investments, the investment manager of the Canada Pension Plan, announced today the appointment of Richard Manley as Chief Sustainability Officer.
Manley has been serving as Head of Sustainable Investing at CPP Investments, since joining the firm in 2019. He joined CPP Investments after 18 years at Goldman Sachs, where he most recently served as Global Head of Thematic Equity and ESG Research.
CPP Investments said that Manley’s responsibilities in his new role will include leading the “further refinement and execution of a roadmap for CPP Investments to prudently navigate the global economy’s transition to address climate change.” Earlier this year, CPP Investments announced a series of climate-related goals, including a target to reach net zero in its portfolio and operations across all scopes by 2050.
Manley will also continue to lead the Sustainable Investing Group at CPP Investments.
John Graham, President & CEO, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, said:
“Sustainability remains a top priority of CPP Investments and placing Richard in this important leadership role will continue to advance our strategy and its implementation, particularly in regard to our net-zero commitment.”
