Image-sharing and social media company Pinterest announced the appointment of LeMia Jenkins Thompson as the company’s first-ever Chief Public Affairs and Sustainability Officer.
In her new role, Jenkins Thompson, formerly Pinterest’s Chief Communications Officer, will lead the new organization at the company responsible for sustainability, environmental social governance, corporate social responsibility, corporate philanthropy and public affairs.
Prior to the new appointment, Jenkins Thompson held leadership and advocacy roles on Pinterest’s communications teams and worked with companies including Walmart and Caesars Entertainment. She has also worked on Capitol Hill and on the board of the Mississippi Minority Business Alliance and is a member of the Fast Company Impact Council.
Jenkins Thompson said:
“Every day at Pinterest we work to be a company and culture that prioritizes purpose and positivity. As Chief Communications Officer, I was proud to lead first-to-market initiatives that helped to change the way we think of online platforms and their role in consumers’ lives. In this new role, I’m thrilled to continue that work and help lead Pinterest’s journey toward building a more sustainable future and ensuring Pinterest can continue to have a positive impact on the communities we serve.”
