Pollination Hires Climate-Focused Legal Team Led by Sarah Barker
Climate-focused investment and advisory firm Pollination announced today the appointment of climate law veteran Sarah Barker as Managing Director, along with several members of her current team, in a move aimed at boosting the firm’s climate and nature law and advisory capabilities and expertise.
In her new role, Barker will lead Pollination’s climate risk governance and sustainability team, helping companies, investors, and government agencies navigate ESG risks from a commercial perspective.
Pollination Co-Founder and CEO Martijn Wilder said:
“The core of the value proposition Pollination offers is that we provide our clients access to the best expertise from an integrated team of global thought leaders and practitioners. Adding Sarah to our team bolsters that capability in many ways. The experience and relationships she has forged across 25 years in the field mark her as an unparalleled expert and resource when it comes to navigating the intersection of company law and climate change.”
Prior to joining Pollination, Barker served as a Partner and Global Head of Climate & Sustainability Risk Governance for Australia-based legal and consulting services provider MinterEllison. Barker was also recently appointed as a Joint Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Community of Experts.
According to Pollination, the appointment comes as Barker’s areas of expertise, including directors’ duties, misleading disclosure, climate change and sustainability, are shifting rapidly, with company directors and executives grappling with emerging risks, opportunities and responsibilities associated with global climate change.
Joining Barker at Pollination will also be key members of her current team at MinterEllison, including Phoebe Roberts, Tatum Joseph and Lucy Sanderson.
Barker said:
“The chance to join Pollination is a chance to work alongside the clear thought leaders when it comes to sustainability and was one I absolutely jumped at. Working in an area that is so fast-moving and dynamic it is a great opportunity to be surrounded by an entire firm of people who have a deep understanding of the trends, issues and opportunities that the net zero and nature positive transition throws up.”
